All of us at Vantage Credit Union believe in educating students about the benefits of smart saving and spending habits. Unfortunately, these important topics aren’t normally discussed in the classroom. For this reason, we created a series of informative presentations and support materials called Money Matters that cover a variety of personal finance topics. Our goal is to educate as many young people as possible about smart saving, budgeting and spending, so when these students grow older, they’ll be more prepared and successful at managing their financial affairs.
We take great pride in providing Money Matters presentations and support materials free of charge to any school, youth group, or community group within the communities we serve. Teachers can use our Money Matters presenters to help teach a variety of financial topics at any grade level. And, presentations can be tailored to meet the needs of individual classrooms or groups. Every presentation covers what credit unions are and stresses smart financial habits. Topics include:
- Careers in Credit Unions
- History of Money
- Saving Money—How & Why
|
- Careers in Credit Unions
- Creating a Spending/Savings Plan
- Saving & Investing
- Using Checks & Balancing a Register
- What is the Federal Reserve Bank?

Based on the philosophy that learning about money is as important as earning it, the National Endowment for Financial Education High School Financial Planning Program was created (with teachers) to increase the financial literacy of America’s high school students. The program’s six units integrate easily with existing course work and give you the flexibility to meet the needs of your classroom. You can request the NEFE materials, free of charge, from Vantage Credit Union and give the presentations yourself. Or, we can help by providing a presenter for one, or all, units.
Unit 1- Financial Planning: Your Roadmap
Unit 2- Career: Labor You Love
Unit 3- Budget: Don’t Go Broke
Unit 4- Savings & Investments: Your Money at Work
Unit 5- Credit: Buy Now, Pay Later
Unit 6- Insurance: Your Protection
Make sure your students receive the benefits of these free and informative programs. Call us at 314.264.5153 or 800.522.6009 and ask for the Marketing Department to schedule your presentation. Or, email educate@vcu.com.
