Vantage member Brittany Borman throws like a girl…a girl who happens to be an Olympic athlete! Brittany recently headed to London to compete in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

Brittany, a 2008 Festus High graduate, joined the U.S. team as a javelin thrower after earning a spot at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials July 2 in Eugene, Oregon. She made the team on her sixth and final throw, a distance of 201 feet, nine inches, the longest javelin throw by a U.S. woman this year.

The javelin isn’t Brittany’s only talent. She competed in shot put, discus, long jump, triple jump, high jump and hurdles in high school. In college (UCLA and University of Oklahoma), she was a four-time NCAA All-American, a four-time Big 12 champion in javelin and discus, and a four-time NCAA champion in javelin and discus. That’s quite a resume, even without Olympic credentials!

While Brittany didn’t qualify for the Olympic final javelin throw and a shot at medaling glory, it took no luster off her fantastic achievements. Thank you, Brittany, for stoking our imaginations with homegrown Olympic memories. Good show!
