Vantage Credit Union congratulates the winners of this year’s Dream Big contest, Ben Shepherd of Sunset Hills and Nathanial Marsters of Frontenac. Shepherd and Marsters were each awarded $1,000 toward the purchase of a new computer.
The Dream Big contest, now in its third year, took place from July 15 to September 2, 2016. To qualify, credit union members ages 11-17 submitted an entry sharing their dreams for the future. Entries included personal essays, unique artwork and other creative items. Winners were randomly drawn.
“Our goal with this contest was to encourage young people to explore their options after graduating,” said Community Engagement Manager, Rachel Parrent.
“With technology being such a large part of education, we know the prizes will definitely be put to good use and hopefully help these students reach their goals.”
Shepherd, who one day would like to be a sports analyst, chose a Dell 17” laptop and accessories.
“I was shocked and excited to learn I won,” said Shepherd. “I’m thrilled to own my own computer for school, entertainment, and to prepare for my future.”
Marsters, who hopes to one day be an officer for the United States Air Force Academy, chose an iPad Pro.
“I can’t believe it,” said Marsters. “Thank you so much for doing this. I know it will help me to achieve my dream.”
Congratulations, Ben and Nathanial. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!
