Vantage Participates in Money Smart Week 2016

Vantage was once again a proud sponsor of Money Smart Week April 23-30, 2016. Money Smart is a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. It was created by the Federal Reserve and sponsored by the Greater St. Louis Financial Education Collaborative, which is comprised of the United Way of Greater St. Louis and over 130 non-profit and private sector partners.

The week included hundreds of free seminars (five hosted by Vantage) and many other relevant events aimed at promoting financial education.

Vantage helped kick off the week with a booth at the Money Smart Children’s Zoo Safari, April 23, at the St. Louis Zoo. The event included Vantage staff and other financial institutions teaching local youth the importance of financial literacy through interactive games, inspirational displays and fun giveaways. A variety of local mascots joined all the fun as well, including Vantage’s own Agent Redfox.

The week also featured a Money Smart Kid Essay contest, where students in grades 6–8 were asked to write about their family’s financial situation as it related to a hypothetical situation, in this case a medical emergency. Three prize checks were awarded ($2,000, $1,000), and Vantage presented a $500 check to Brian Faintich.

“Education is the key to being Money Smart. Money Smart Week seeks to not only educate our communities on essential financial skills, but also help youth so they, too, can become wise consumers,” commented Rachel Parrent, Community Engagement Manager. “As an advocate for financial literacy for over 20 years, Vantage is glad to play a role in helping Money Smart Week reach the communities we serve in and around St. Louis."
