Auto Insurance

One of the first things to know about auto insurance is that it isn’t just one type of coverage. There are four main parts of a policy:

  • Personal liability coverage for vehicle and property damages plus medical bills when you are the driver at fault
  • Uninsured / underinsured motorist coverage for when the driver at fault isn’t properly insured to cover your damages
  • Collision for damage from single- and multi-vehicle accidents
  • Comprehensive to account for mishaps like theft, fire, weather damage and animal incidents

Depending on your level of coverage, you have some control over your deductible and premium. However, when you add family members or buy a new vehicle, you will likely see cost increases.

"I have had my insurance needs met by CUIA for several years now… They always look for the insurance product that gives me the best value and offer ideas they think I might benefit from but are never pushy."

– James G., (VCU member and CUIA client)
