I can’t believe it’s been one year since OPO Startups. officially opened their doors to the downtown St. Charles community.
When we were preparing for our first annual Ready to Launch entrepreneur contest, I met with Megan McKissen to get a tour of the facility, learn more about the startups in their co-working space and ask them to provide in-kind services for our grand prize winner.
Downtown St. Charles has incredible charm. Not only is the building an old post office (how cool is that?!), but it is within walking distance from Picasso’s, one of my favorite coffeeshops.
According to The St. Louis Business Journal, Randy Schilling, Founder of OPO Startups, bought the Old Post Office building in 2013 from the Roy Cox estate. He has invested $1.5 million in the renovation of the historic property, including everything from taking out the building’s second story to reinstate the first floor’s vaulted ceilings, to putting in a new roof and dormers (and re-installing the half-round roof windows that originally graced the building’s roof) to upgrading the heating and cooling systems and adding fiber.
OPO Startups not only has a beautiful space but provides excellent support and learning opportunities for its members and the startup community through “Startup Wednesdays”: http://www.opostartups.com/., a great way to meet others, share ideas and stay connected.
Great collaborations happen when great minds come together; thus, OPO Startups is creating a space where anything can happen.
Tameka Blanton, winner of the 2015 Ready to Launch Entrepreneur Contest and owner of Tea With Me, has co-working space there and loves it.
OPO Startups has a bright future, and we look forward to hearing great things from them.
If you or someone you know is interested in co-working space, contact OPO Startups. them for more info.
